Welcome to Laidlaw College’s Centre for Distance Learning (CDL)

Distance learning really just means studying outside the traditional face-to-face classroom setting. It is not about studying in isolation on what seems like the edge of the planet! CDL is an integral part of teaching and learning at Laidlaw College. Many Laidlaw students take a mixture of face-to-face and CDL courses, because this is what suits them best.

Today, CDL courses bring together a blend of modern media, ‘virtual classrooms,’ online tutoring, and up-to-date scholarship. In addition, distance learning offers more flexibility than face-to-face learning. You can study when you want, where you want, and at a speed that suits your style (within limits, of course!).

The flexibility of distance learning allows you to fit your studies around your other life commitments. You can study just one course at a time, or take as many courses as you can manage up to a full time load. Our courses are designed to enable you to study where you find it most convenient to study – at the library, in your room, on the sofa. This is lifestyle learning at its best!

Our mission is
“To create pathways of flexible learning
for people within their communities"
